Talk to you child about telling the truth and how it is never really possible to a secret if you are not telling the truth. Talk with your child about a time when you very tempted to not tell the truth but in the end did tell the truth and how much easier it turned out to be. Ask your child if he can think of a time when he was tempted not to tell the truth.

Activities

This story is also a good opportunity to speak with your child about what it means to be homeless or very, very poor.

Additional Activities

If you are able, have your child help you buy some non-perishable food to donate to a local food bank.
