Discussion:

Discuss with your child what it means to take care of the earth. Talk about things your child can understand. Recycling, riding bikes or walking instead of driving in a car and not littering are all good topics for young children.

Activities

If you recycle at home, encourage your child to get involved with what can be recycled. If you do not recycle, you and your child can begin a recycling project.

Walk around the block or go to a park and pick up litter (remember to have gloves for everyone involved).

Plant flowers as your contribution to beautifying the earth.

Additional Activities

Using pictures from magazines (these can be purchased at a local thrift store) have your child create a collage of beautiful pictures representing the earth by pasting them on a piece of cardboard.
